The Brighter Future Fund is a community impact fund created by NMOGA and administered by the Albuquerque Community Foundation to award grants to non-profit and educational organizations, with a focus on efforts to enhance STEM education (science, technology, engineering, math), increase economic opportunity, and alleviate child hunger. The fund is supported by the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association, the American Petroleum Institute (API), and their members. NMOGA and API have committed $1 million to the fund through 2024, and the fund will distribute $200,000 annually with the intention of announcing awards in $50,000 increments at the end of each quarter. The first awards will be announced later this year in December.
Through engagements with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber, NMOGA participated in conversations with stakeholders to identify new opportunities to support local communities and increase economic opportunities. The launch of the fund is a direct result of those efforts. The Albuquerque Community Foundation has been retained as the trusted partner to administer the Brighter Future Fund application and award processes and will help ensure funds are invested strategically in communities throughout New Mexico. The partnership will focus awards in the greater Albuquerque area, but will also consider regional and statewide grant opportunities.
