Doug Ackerman is a seasoned executive and transformational leader with 25 years of market-focused strategy development, value chain unification, category leadership and brand management experience in agriculture, retail, foodservice, and consumer packaged goods.
He has helped drive brand relevance and top line sales with iconic brands such as Publix Super Markets, Florida Orange Juice, Wisconsin Cheese, Pizza Hut, Bennigan’s, Ruby Tuesday, Dairy Management Inc, Tropicana, Minute Maid, Dean Foods, Borden, Daisy Brand, Anheuser Busch, Coca Cola, Pepsi, TracyLocke and more.
Most recently, Ackerman was chief executive officer at The Dairy Alliance, a part of the USDA checkoff program focused on promoting and protecting the interests and products of American dairy farmer and the $750 billion dairy industry. In this capacity, Ackerman led a strategic rebranding for the not-for-profit, whose success propelled him to driving change and leading strategic planning on a national level for the United Dairy Industry Association.
As the Executive Director of the Florida Department of Citrus, he led the state agency responsible for the global marketing, research, and regulation of the Florida citrus industry – a $10+ billion industry, employing over 60,000 people, and funded by over 6,000 citrus growers.
Ackerman holds a Master of Business Administration, University of Tampa, Tampa, Florida, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Major in Marketing, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.
