NMOGA Press Release | March 1, 2022
Brings two decades of consumer, brand, and strategy experience
SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO, March 1, 2022 – The board of directors of the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA) today named Doug Ackerman as the association’s new president and CEO. Ackerman immediately assumes the role following the leadership of interim president and CEO Leland Gould, who will assist in the transition as a senior advisor and counselor.
“I am humbled and honored to lead this association charged with representing the most significant part of New Mexico’s economy as well as the thousands of men and women who are the heart of this foundational industry,” said Ackerman. “I look forward to building on the NMOGA team’s great progress and working with leaders and stakeholders across the state to continue New Mexico’s energy leadership through safe, responsible growth of the oil and natural gas sector.”
Ackerman brings 25 years of transformation leadership in market-focused strategy development, category leadership, brand management, and public affairs experience throughout the food system value chain – including agriculture, retail, foodservice, and consumer packaged goods. Ackerman has extensive experience growing and working with major consumer brands such as Publix Super Markets, Pizza Hut, Minute Maid, Anheuser Busch, and more.
“After a thorough search process, we are confident that Doug’s extensive leadership and market- focused strategy experience is what our organization needs in this time of constant change in the oil and gas industry,” said Jeff Wilson, Chairman of the NMOGA board of directors. “Doug is the right leader for NMOGA and was unanimously selected by the board to lead and grow this industry into the future.”
In addition to his market-focused leadership experience, Ackerman has over 23 years of leadership and service experience with the United States Army National Guard and Reserve. He has both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business administration, from Sam Houston State University and the University of Tampa.
