Fracking is a safe and scientifically engineered process that has been used in New Mexico for more than 50 years without a single case of groundwater contamination. Fracking and all oil and gas activities are heavily regulated with strict requirements and enforcement at the federal, state, and local levels. In New Mexico, the state Oil Conservation Division is the primary regulator of fracking activities.

Disclosure of fracking fluid additives to the state.

Disclosure of what type of water is used to conduct a fracture treatment (fresh, brackish, brine, or
produced water).

Nonproductive or depleted wells are safely shut-in.
