NMOGA December Newsletter: Energizing New Mexico!

Our team at NMOGA wishes you and your loved ones a happy holiday season!
From Christmas lights to gatherings with friends and family, the magic of the holidays is made possible by the oil and gas industry. Petroleum-based products are used in ornaments, artificial trees, lights, and toys. Fuel for homes and transportation makes celebrations possible, even on cold winter days.
NMOGA has been celebrating the holiday season by giving back to the organizations that inspire us. We're proud to highlight our support of the U.S. Capitol Holiday Christmas Tree, THRIVE Community School, Saint Elizabeth Shelters, NM Future Farmers of America, Ag Fest, and the NM Energy Initiatives Consortium Symposium.
If you don't already, make sure to follow Energizing Our Future NM (EOF), a 501c3, on Facebook to learn more about how we support programs focused on education, workforce development, hunger, and quality of life for all New Mexicans. We also share this content on our main social media channels, so follow NMOGA on Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn to get all of our posts in your feed.
Saint Elizabeth Shelters

NMOGA was honored to produce a fundraising appeal video for Saint Elizabeth Shelters as part of our sponsorship of the Hungry Mouth Festival at the Scottish Rite Temple in Santa Fe.
The video highlights Maddie’s inspiring story — after an opioid relapse left her and her daughter without a home, Saint Elizabeth Shelters helped them find housing and hope. Her journey of recovery is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact Saint Elizabeth Shelters has on the unhoused community in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.
From the men’s emergency shelter to four additional shelters serving women, children, families, and individuals with disabilities, Saint Elizabeth Shelters provides critical support for those most in need.
NMOGA is proud to support organizations like Saint Elizabeth Shelters that are improving the quality of life for all New Mexicans.

Capitol Holiday Christmas Tree Celebration Brings Holiday Spirit to Albuquerque
NMOGA was proud to join the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of American Foresters in welcoming Silver Belle, this year’s Capitol Holiday Christmas Tree, during its stop at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque.
The tree traveled from Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest to its final destination at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The Albuquerque celebration was a lively and heartwarming stop along the route, drawing 300 attendees who welcomed Silver Belle. Guests enjoyed live performances from mariachis, delicious treats from local food trucks, and opportunities to connect with community partners and non-profit organizations showcasing local programs and initiatives.
The Capitol Christmas Tree’s visit served as a meaningful reminder of the beauty of our public lands and the spirit of unity that brings communities together during the holiday season.

EOF Champions STEM Education with New STEM Center at Thrive Community School
EOF, in partnership with NMOGA, API, and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF), celebrated the opening of the first CRSF STEM Center in Santa Fe at Thrive Community School. The ribbon-cutting highlighted EOF’s commitment to expanding STEM education and strengthening New Mexico’s future workforce.
Through its sponsorship of this project, EOF continues to invest in educational opportunities that prepare students for high-demand careers and support a strong workforce pipeline.

NMOGA Supports New Mexico FFA Welding Competition
NMOGA was proud to support a recent high school welding competition in Tucumcari, where New Mexico FFA teams showcased their welding skills, creativity, and teamwork. Students were challenged to build a collapsible branding-iron heating pot—a project that highlights the hands-on technical abilities vital to New Mexico’s workforce.

NMOGA at Ag Fest
NMOGA hosted a booth at Ag Fest, held at NMSU in Las Cruces, ahead of the NMSU Aggies' home football game. The event brought together students, families, agricultural organizations, and community partners to highlight the importance of agriculture in New Mexico.
We were also proud to spotlight the New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau, a grant recipient of EOF. Their agricultural education and leadership programs align directly with EOF’s mission to expand workforce opportunity and community capacity across the state.

NMOGA Supports the New Mexico Energy Initiatives Consortium Symposium
NMOGA was proud to sponsor and take part in this year’s New Mexico Energy Initiatives Consortium Symposium hosted by New Mexico Tech. The gathering brought together leaders from across the state who are shaping New Mexico’s energy future through research, education, and collaboration.
The agenda included keynotes and discussions featuring voices from state agencies, higher education, national labs, industry, and nonprofit partners. Speakers included NM Secretaries Rob Black and James Kenney, former Secretary Melanie Kenderdine and Dr. Sudip Sen, dean of graduate studies at Navajo Technical University.
