NMOGA November Newsletter: Energizing New Mexico!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association is taking time to recognize the essential role the industry plays during the holiday season. Gas heats our homes when it's cold outside and helps cook tasty Thanksgiving meals. Oil is essential for transportation, shipping food to grocery stores and bringing families together. Oil and gas byproducts are an essential part of many appliances throughout your home, including refrigerators, nonstick cooking utensils, storage containers, dish soap, and more. Oil & gas are truly a part of our everyday life.

This past month, NMOGA celebrated the role of oil and gas in communities across New Mexico. Our team attended the Carlsbad Mayor's Energy Summit, the San Juan Basin Energy Conference, Coterra Energy's Educator Exchange, and a Power Hour in Artesia with the American Petroleum Institute. NMOGA also provided supplies for the McKinney-Vento Program's Youth and Family Housing Resource Fair in Albuquerque and joined ExxonMobil in supporting education and community collaboration.

We're grateful for New Mexico's oil and gas industry for meaningfully investing in our communities and providing affordable energy for families and businesses across the state.

We wish you and your loved ones a happy, warm, loving Thanksgiving!

2025 Carlsbad Mayor's Energy Summit and San Juan Basin Energy Conference

The NMOGA team traveled to Carlsbad and Farmington for events dedicated to highlighting the power and potential of the Permian and San Juan Basins.

The Carlsbad Mayor’s Energy Summit and the Department of Energy, Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO), highlighted workforce development across the region and underscored the energy industry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities where it operates.

The San Juan Basin Energy Conference celebrated the strength of the energy industry and the incredible people who make it all possible. From city council members to oil and gas professionals to local residents eager to learn more about the industry, the enthusiasm of San Juan County was unmistakable.

Coterra Energy's Educator Exchange

NMOGA was proud to participate in Coterra Energy’s Energy Educators Exchange in Odessa and Midland, Texas—a two-day retreat bringing together educators from across New Mexico and the region, along with community partners and energy professionals, to strengthen connections between the classroom and the energy workforce.

Through hands-on demonstrations, interactive presentations, and site tours, participants gained a deeper understanding of the technology, innovation, and people driving today’s energy industry. The event also showcased how partnerships between educators and industry leaders can inspire future career pathways in STEM and energy.

Thank you to Coterra Energy for hosting such a thoughtful and engaging program. Efforts like this align closely with NMOGA’s Energizing Our Future Foundation, which supports programs that connect students and teachers to opportunities in energy, innovation, and career readiness.

Celebrating Education at the ExxonMobil Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

NMOGA was proud to take part in two special events during the Balloon Fiesta, highlighting our shared commitment to education and community collaboration.

ExxonMobil hosted NMOGA and Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) at their hospitality tent, where more than 100 community leaders gathered to celebrate the advancement of education in Albuquerque. APS Superintendent Blakey and team highlighted their progress, vision, and dedication to student success. APS leadership also highlighted The Academies of Albuquerque — an initiative reimagining high school education to meet the needs of the city’s evolving economy and to prepare students for both college and careers.

Later in the week, NMOGA joined ExxonMobil for a Teacher Appreciation Dinner to recognize educators and celebrate their lasting impact on New Mexico’s students. As part of the evening, NMOGA provided a gift card giveaway to thank teachers for their tireless work and commitment to shaping the next generation.

McKinney-Vento Program’s Youth & Family Housing Resource Fair

NMOGA was proud to provide supplies for the McKinney-Vento Program’s Youth and Family Housing Resource Fair, held at the Helen Fox Complex in Albuquerque. The event, presented by the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness and Albuquerque Public Schools, brought together community partners dedicated to supporting families and youth experiencing housing instability.

By supporting this initiative, NMOGA continues its commitment to strengthening communities across New Mexico—helping families find stability, opportunity, and hope.

Artesia Power Hour

NMOGA and API were proud to host a Power Hour in Artesia, bringing together local members, community partners, and industry representatives for an engaging conversation about New Mexico’s oil and natural gas industry.

Our discussion centered on the role of energy in supporting New Mexico’s communities, fostering local opportunities, and promoting responsible production practices. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this productive and insightful morning — and to the Artesia community for your continued support and hospitality!
