NMOGA + Speaker of the House + United = A Powerful Play for Kids in Need

28 July, 2025

NMOGA and Energizing our Future, NMOGA’s 501c3, partnered with Speaker of the House Javier Martínez and New Mexico United soccer to host a high-energy clinic for more than 40 youth involved in the Albuquerque Public Schools’ McKinney Vento Program, a program offering services and support for children, youth, and their families who experience homelessness.

Speaker Martínez kicked off the event with a warm welcome and helped run soccer drills with United players. NMOGA and the Speaker were joined by APS Superintendent Gabriella Blakey, who helped hand out NMOGA-branded United shirts to the kids as they arrived.

Each child received their own soccer ball signed by United players during a dedicated autograph session. With parents cheering from the sidelines, kids received coaching from the pro players and athletic gear-packed swag bags. McKinney-Vento’s mobile clothing bank was on-site fitting students with cleats and athletic shoes.

The clinic launched a hygiene drive to provide students with essentials to start the school year. The drive continues beyond the event, and donations are being accepted to support McKinney-Vento youth at United’s Team Store in Nob Hill.

New Mexico United shared a public recap of the event on their social media channels, spotlighting NMOGA’s collaboration with Speaker Martínez and helping amplify the ongoing hygiene drive. The post reached over 200,000 fans across New Mexico. You can read and share the post here: United’s Facebook Post

A special thank-you to Speaker Javier Martínez, Superintendent Gabriella Blakey, the McKinney-Vento team, New Mexico United, and NMOGA membership for their collaboration and commitment to making this event a success. We look forward to more clinics in the future.
